The Hands-On Program for Experiential Learning and Building (HOPELaB) Project is a multidisciplinary and multimedia program intended to battle the pervasive existential dread and ennui present in our world by encouraging students to physically interact with and shape the world around them with intent and planning.  This starts with the Linworth School Community Garden, and then expands to encompass a makerspace and workshop, with tools and instructors guiding students through a wide variety of projects. We expect to have tools such as 3D Printers and Laser Cutting/Engraving machines, molding and casting, as well as pottery, woodworking, sewing, and even blacksmithing and jeweling and lapidary areas.
Other classes, folding in the science, history, math, financial literacy and economics, design, health concerns, and ecological science as they relate to the making of physical objects in the greater context of our world and society are planned for the coming years.
